Do you feel like this generation is more PC oriented? or is it that it's still just starting?

Is people ditching the consoles and prefering a good PC + Phone combination? or simply just phones?

I feel like people is not as enthusiastic about consoles as they used to be before, do you feel that way?

People still haven't bothered migrating to PS4/XB1.

Gamers are switching to PC/mobile (+ whatever Nintendo has at the time) while non-gamers will predominantly use mobile platforms, possibly occasionally playing a PC game.

Consoles were a thing like 5 years ago, it's starting to die off.

There's no way a smartphone will ever have the processing power of a dedicated gaming console. There are so many factors that go into the performance of a video game including graphics, RAM, CPU, etc. For a phone to be able to have the proper specs to run a PS4 game, it would end up costing thousands of dollars because you'd have to find a way to get that power in a smaller form factor which is an expensive thing to accomplish and it also takes time.

And also let's not forget that even though the technology is improved for smartphones, it's also being improved upon for the consoles. No matter how you look at it, smartphones will always be a step behind because it takes time to develop the tech to harvest good technology in smaller smartphone components whereas consoles can just take the parts and put it together. That time is a huge factor in why consoles will always be ahead in terms of the capacity to play video games.

Deffo. especially considering the leap for the 3rd gen to 4th really wasn't as big as 2nd gen to 3rd (consoles)

No way. My iphone 6 barely plays the N64 emulator.

Duh. Kids nowadays don't care about the new Pokemon or Mario, they care about youtubers and easy free to play games, which their parents would rather spent 5$/10$ per week than pay 60$ for a full game, plus a console. This is why Nintendo fell so hard since the only thing that keep them floating around are 30-year old males who have money to buy collectible figurines, while Sony and Micro still have some life with ported indies and hardcore games like COD/GTA/etc which kids love.

To answer the question, yes. However, that's mainly due to consoles not having many exclusives that make you want to go out and buy, plus free to play games are still huge... Sadly.

The console generation is pretty much dead.

Emulators are different. It's not native code, it has to be translated from N64 code to iPhone code. Not to mention that an iPhone might be able to emulate N64 games perfectly but currently can't because the emulator's code may not be optimized.

You're still right to an extent. A PC with the specs of a PS4 or Xbox One can emulate Gamecube, PS2, and Wii games. Phones probably won't be doing that for a while. Also, Xbox One emulates the entire 360 OS. Phones won't be doing that for a long while.

Tell me when my phone will able to run and stream Guild Wars 2 on twitch.

Windows Mobile is the future of smartphones.
Windows phones will have specially designed Intel chips that will allow desktop applications to run on your phone.

Technically your phone will now act as your computer, just connect to a docking station and will run desktop applications soon. Apps will be a thing of the past.
