The other day blogs started reporting that Android N would get rid of the iconic app drawer, and a lot of readers didn't believe it since the same thing has been said in the past but this time it might actually be true:
Exclusive: Android N may not have an app drawer

Google is reportedly planning on removing the app drawer from the Android N release. While there is still a long way to go until the public release of Android 7.0 in late 2016, Android Authority has now received word from two separate sources that pre-release Android N builds currently do not include an app drawer

Even more new evidence has arisen: the HTC One X9 doesn’t have an app drawer either, although it does have an option to enable it. While the new Sony Xperia X series does maintain the app drawer, the software is non-final and the Sony Marshmallow concept doing the rounds includes the option for a “classic” or “modern” layout – with or without an app drawer.
i think they'll keep it but it'll be triggered by a gesture, like swipe up (similar to the one from android 1.5) idk since they made it vertical recently like it used to be in the past idk
The app drawer has always been an alphanumerically sorted mess. The app drawer was only useful when Android lacked the ability to sort apps into folders on the home screen.
