Btw, the second single 'Night Like This' is doing well. Its #40 on the Canadian Top 100. Last week it was #45

CRIA doesn't use Billboard. The sales chart is a more pure reflection. Radio play in Canada is skewed due to Canadian Content rules.

The canadian music industry is difficult. His album debuted at #29, thats really bad right? That means he only sold a few hundred copies considering Canadian albums that go #1 only sale about 10,000

Yeah that isn't very good. But 10k isn't enough to go #1. You'd need at least 13k, but Eminem for example sold 19k this week. For albums Canada is actually the sixth biggest market in the world.

The number one single sells anywhere between 15 and 25k each week. This week's #1 (LTWYL) sold 21k.

Do you know exactly how much his album sold?

No. I only get numbers for the number one single and album and then maybe for top ten debuts or gainers (like Katy Perry's Teenage Dream (song) sold 14k this week, and Circle the Drain sold 5k)

I don't know how Mediatraffic gets access to Canadian sales because they are quite sparse.

Well, there are also many successful ones - Nelly Furtado, Avril Lavigne, Michael Bublé, Celine Dion, Hedley, K'naan, Arcade Fire, Sarah McLachlan, Drake, Nikki Yanofsky, Johnny Reid, Nickelback, Marianas Trench etc.

And actually Keshia Chanté isn't a huge flop - she won a Juno! She's had some hits too, her albums just haven't sold that well.

Well the first one went gold, which is good in Canada considering the lack of support for her type of music. I wonder how much 2U sold
