Girls high school basketball team wins playoff game by 108-1
Thank goodness the girls from Northeast Ohio College Prep made one of their four free throw attempts. That stood as the only point they scored Wednesday in a playoff loss to Cleveland-area Gilmour Academy by the eye-popping score of 108-1.
“Our intent was to not run anything up, and we took steps to not disrespect our opponent,” Gilmour Coach Bob Beutel told Nathan Cline of Cleveland.com. “They went 0-for-28 from the field and 1-for-4 from the free-throw line. We let them shoot.”
Beutel added that, as early as the first quarter, he began substituting in junior-varsity players. However, his squad, which finished the regular season No. 3 in Cleveland.com’s Top 25, was simply too much for its overmatched opponent, which finished its season with a record of 1-12.
