K Michelle:
'Hello, that's some ********, sorry. It's a great song, a great artist, but if a black girl was to sing that very song, it would not get played on the radio.'
Where's the lie? The GP wouldn't think of her as anything more than a soulful black woman with a big voice. Maybe her songs would be hot for a minute but then she'd get piled up with names such as Emile Sande, Elle Varner, etc.
You know what I'm all against white privilege and all, but I'm sick of people now playing the race card literally on everything, it's now just making these people look weak, desperate and racist. Adele came from NOTHING. Chasing Pavement made her, and Rolling In The Deep took her to the next level. When K Michelle makes a Rolling In The Deep, then I want to see her complain.
Well, kind of. But at the same time, it's a very commercial song. If it was Beyoncé or Rihanna singing it, it still could be successful. Not perhaps a girl who is trying to break out in the American radio formats, but an established act could take it to the #1. easily with no problem.
