I wonder if they basically just had a very "screw it" attitude when they were told to tone down/censor some of the violence in the video and so they just took a very Lily Allen approach to it (like when Allen added all those silly elephant noises and bells and whistles to the censored version of "**** You"). Still, "Misery" is such a good video that it is annoying to see it be messed with that much :-/
^ Sexuality probably. Violence I'm not sure, especially for something that's supposed to air at any time of the day. I think one of the things that surprises Europeans the most is how much violence is allowed on U.S. TV while people are still so conservative about sexuality, whereas in Europe it's typically the opposite (people are more sensitive to violence than sex).
