I don’t know if you’ve heard the latest news yet, but producer RedOne has been given his own record label by Universal. Apparently, he’s done with all the “fast food writing” now, and is hoping that his new label will bring back “real music” like “Bruce Springsteen or The Rolling Stones or Bob Dylan”.
Contradicting everything that RedOne just said is “Bumpy Ride” — the first single from his label’s first signee Mohombi (pictured above).
When is comes to actually describing his music, RedOne either has absolutely no self-awareness, or he’s just completely full of ****, but what he does know is how to craft a hit, and “Bumpy Ride” is definitely hit. I wanted to act like I was too cool to enjoy yet another one of RedOne’s recycled tunes, but I’d be lying if I tried to pretend like I wasn’t loving the hell out of “Bumpy Ride”. It only took me two listens until my Swiss cheese brain started scheduling in time for me to start learning that stupid dance that Mohombi does on the chorus!
You can stick Mohombi next to all the new music from Usher, Jason DeRulo, Taio Cruz, Enrique and Sean Kingston. It all sounds the frickin’ same, but it’s still hideously catchy.
Now, with that said, can the person who gave RedOne a record label please be shot?

This is already on Dutch iTunes and a few days ago I listened to the preview. I heard the horn sound and the EXACT same cheering sounds found in Fire Burning and Usher's More. RedOne has NO versatility besides Bad Romance. He is still stuck with the exact same sound found on early 2008's Just Dance and has shown little to no progression in his production style.
