"Artists/DJs" who rip off classic songs for a quick hit.
Do you think it's downright lazy, unimaginative and desperate for DJs to use old classic, timeless songs and remix it into some bland, basic, generic crap?
Some random DJ decided to remix Tracy Chapman's Fast Car song and it sounds so basic. It is at No. 2 on UK iTunes. Why can't DJs come up with their own songs instead of ruining other people's ones. Clearly desperate for some quick cash and a big hit.
Zedd has been recycling Clarity since 2013 for all of his songs (bar the ARTPOP ones). And omg I hate it when great songs get remixed and the remix becomes a hit
It’s funny because that song was remixed twice by two different people and were both released on the same day and both charted in the top 20 in Australia
It does seem like a musical crime, but I try to look on the bright side in situations like this. I'm sure there were many kids who didn't know who Etta James was until Avicii sampled her.
I don't think it's ripping off. If the original artist gives their OK, I don't see anything wrong with it.
Plus some producers have done amazing things, putting a completely different spin on classic songs. By giving them a contemporary sound they're introducing a new generation to these classic songs. Check these out:
