Thank you for this post. As a Polish person, I also relate to this on a personal level. Jews were neither the main or the largest ethnic group killed in German concentration camps, therefore it is shameful to forget about Poles.
Auschwitz should remain as the house of shame not only for Germans but to the world as well. Nazi Germany wasn't the only regime to commit such crimes against humanity and unfortunately there are still places in this world, where people are jailed, oppressed, harrassed, abused or even killed not because they did something bad but because of someone they are. Auschwitz to me is symbolic also in that way - as a symbol that regardless of our race, religion, beliefs or looks, we all have human dignity and not have the power to deprive others from it.
