As a major Sony fan, I just don't see how this is going to sell. I don't know anyone who wants this.

The gimmick that still sold less than the PS1, PS2 and most likely the PS4.
They just lucky Sony messed up the PS3.

You showed the Vita like it was a success. It wasn't. Talent (the DS) won.
Maybe this VR thing will be different, but I doubt it.

What the hell is that mess.

PS1 barely outsold the Wii, a difference of about 1 million which is basically nothing.

If they released the MotionPlus earlier it probably would have snatched the PS1's wig. A lot of games were criticized for the biggest use of the controller being a waggle which hurt the console's reputation. If they had the MotionPlus out at launch or soon after then they could have had games that utilized the console to its full potential.

PS2 was massive though.

High end technology don't sell well from the start. Look at how blu-ray, HDTVs and 3D monitors performed when they were launched. Look at how iClock is performing right now. It's completely normal to have a low start, because the public doesn't know what that technology mean and how to use it, so they are not interested in it. The first years of PSVR will be focused just in Sony fans and dedicated public, and those will be the people that will make the userbase grow little by little by worth of mouth and sharing their experiences.

So in short words: low sales at the start, progresive userbase growth.
