I took AP classes. They weren't that bad. I ended up earning 12 credits (4 classes) but some didn't count since there was no applicable class for my degree.

I'd recommend them. If you take them seriously, they can help prepare you for college.

IB is better for Ivy League schools, but some schools don't accept their credits. Make sure you contact the colleges you plan to attend and confirm that your IB/AP credits will transfer.

I have an IB diploma and took AP classes and IB is harder. The tests at the end of the year are much more comprehensive than the AP tests. You do get a Theory of Knowledge class, though, which is a glorified break.

I would recommend IB over AP after contacting your colleges of choice.

I took AP classes in HS and I regret it. I wish I had taken regular classes since it would have been much easier and less stress. I got accepted into the honors program at my University but I said **** it and took regular classes.

FINALLY SOMEONE WHO DID IB ON THIS SITE.

I'm gonna be a Junior in August and all of a sudden the IB Coordinator summoned kids to talk about it and ****, I told most of my friends and they say they might or are gonna do it. But I don't know what to do and then some people who didn't do it are telling me not to do it because your gonna lose your friends, your gonna fail and your social life is gonna fall apart n' **** and they are warning my ass to not do it so they did AP. Tell me more, how did you survive? I mean Theory of Knowledge is 2 years = 4 semesters at my school because they wanna help students for the Extended Essay part.

It's really ironic that they submitted some random people and here is the mess I'm gonna face if I end up doing it:

IB History HL -> IB History of the Americas HL
AP Chemistry -> IB Chemistry SL

My school functions as a block schedule so we don't see the teachers every day, which might reduce the stress?

IB English, Chemistry and Psych were super easy. I took French and I also thought that was an easy class. I also did Calc and IB Math and IB Math is about on-par with Pre-Calc (i.e. Trig + Geometry). It had the easiest test for me, especially because I did Calc first.

Theory of Knowledge operates under the guise of an ethics class but it turned in to a discussion period and then later on to an extended essay class. The EE is basically just a thesis and very, very interesting to do. Just make sure you have an interesting topic.

History of the Americas (HoA) is the most extensive class and while you'll be fascinated, do NOT ever lose your notes and keep them as well-organized as you can. It has the most random test, imo, because you have to memorize a very extensive set of histories (and not just for the U.S., either).

I had a great social life in highschool and went out clubbing and hooking up with boys and stuff. Just stay on-top of your work and do it the minute you get it and you're good.

I took AP Bio 2, AP government, AP economics and AP English literature. They were really easy. I m only took the English and government AP tests lol but I never checked to see how I did.

I started college as a second semester freshman because of AP credits from junior/senior years of HS. I didn't consider the course work to be too much; however, I'd been groomed for more rigorous programs having been placed in AG programs up until HS and nearly all honors (sans elective courses) in HS. It felt the same essentially, just with more independent study. If you know you're going to college, it's definitely worth it if you can handle it without compromising your GPA. Even if it's a bit challenging and you can't get straight A's, it's worth it considering how the courses are weighted more heavily than CP and honors. It saved me time and additional effort and my parents money in the long run so I say if you're able, do it.

I took AP classes. I kinda hated them but they helped me in the long run--thanks to transferred credits, I was able to graduate from college a semester early and saved $20,000.

But did you focus on your SAT/ACT stuff too? Did the university you ended up going accept your credit?

I took the ACT and never studied. IB should teach you enough to do well, imo. Honestly, I forgot about the test date and hooked up with someone that night and never studied (or slept) and still got a 32. It's not nearly as hard as people make it sound. Just work on your test-taking skills and if you're still worried, study an ACT study guide during TOK (Theory of Knowledge). That's what most of my friends did. I excel at taking tests, though, and if you're bad at them, you'll have a hard time with IB. One of the girls in my class had a learning disability and would take two hours to finish tests

The first college I went to didn't. Then I thought about going to a local community college, transferring those credits there and then going back to the first college, but my community college didn't accept them, either Most schools do take them, I just happened to be really unlucky with my choices. My final choice took them all

EDIT: And do not forget that you can take the SAT/ACT as many times as you want (you have to pay after the first time) and can use your highest score without reporting how many times you tested. My bff took it about 5 or 6 times to get a 26. The national average is only 21 and that was enough for her, as a double minority, to get a full-ride to a lot of schools.
