"In God We Trust" to be potentially altered from dollar

CLEVELAND -- A California attorney who unsuccessfully sued the government at least twice challenging the use of the phrase "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance has filed a federal lawsuit in Ohio challenging a similar phrase on U.S. currency and coins.
Sacramento attorney Michael Newdow filed the lawsuit Monday in Akron. The lawsuit argues the phrase "In God We Trust" on U.S. money is unconstitutional and violates separation of church and state. The lawsuit wants the phrase prohibited from use on money.
The lawsuit represents 41 plaintiffs from Ohio and Michigan, including many unnamed parents and children who are atheists or are being raised as atheists. Defendants include Congress and various federal agencies.
A message seeking comment was left Wednesday at the office of U.S. attorney for Ohio's northern district.
"In God We Trust" was put on all paper currency by an Act of Congress in 1955 and was declared the national motto by an Act of Congress in 1956. It was done during the Red Scare regarding Communism and has not business still existing today.
I'd rather this not happen. It's really a very minor win, and may galvanize ultra-conservative voters in droves if it gains enough media attention (which it likely will).
They have no problem removing the phrase off of money but they'll leave the all-seeing eye in the top of the pyramid.. I mean the evidence is right there. If they remove the phrase they should also remove the eye and the pyramid

Then they shouldn't get rid of In God We Trust there's no point to. Do you know how much it would cost for them to issue that change? In tax payers dollars? The GP won't stand for it which is why it will never happen. Soz

It costs nothing. Old bills aren't changed, they just take it out for new bills. Do you know how much money is printed every year ?
