Ugh..well..um..I prefer Kelly over Carrie..I'll say that..

I predicted that Carrie would win her season of AI though when she first auditioned.

But Kelly is way more versatile and soulful.

Carries bigger In the U.S.

Both are very successful. Carrie is one of the few established current Country girls....she's got a very loyal fanbase in Country and they buy her stuff regularly. Kelly has a harder time in Pop because it's relying more on the GP, and Pop fans can be very fickle. They also tend to focus way more on things outside of the music itself that Country doesn't focus on. Not to mention, Country albums sell much better than Pop ones.

Kelly is more successful as a whole if you include the entire world, and I think she's made more of an impact in the US.

And Carrie is also the better artist, bettter vocalist and has a better discography.

This decade....
2010:
-She goes on the World leg of her All I Ever Wanted Tour in Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa.
-Already Gone continues to have longevity and stay a hit.

2011:
-Don't You Wanna Stay becomes the highest digitally selling Country collaboration of all time
-Stronger is released and debuts at #2 on the BB200
-Mr. Know It All becomes Kelly's 9th Top 10 hit.

2012:
-Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) goes 4x Platinum, becomes Kelly's third #1 single, and tenth Top 10. It is also one of the biggest singles of the year.
-She becomes the only artist in Billboard History to hit #1 on Hot 100, HAC, AC, Dance, Country, and Radio.
-She goes on two tours and gives an acclaimed National Anthem performance at the Superbowl.

All of that without any gimmicks, relying on her image, no Pop collaborations, etc. So no, she's not over whatsoever.

He's right . . . the show is called American Idol for a reason, he was clearly talking about their success in the U.S.

Carrie has outsold Kelly by a large margin even though she started way after her. Plus, let's not forget that her audience is limited to Country, whereas Kelly makes pop music which has bigger appeal.

We can't expect country artists to be smashing in European or Asian markets, that's just unrealistic.

2010:

as you can see, Carrie eclipses Kelly success wise in the US this decade (and without adding stuff like "gave an acclaimed performance" ). Not to diminish Kelly's achievements, but no way has she been more successful this decade
