yeah I know the feeling i've had a pet passing for the first time in October to my beautiful old friend Devo she was 18...Sad fact I knew her longer than my dad since he past away when I was 17 and Devo was basically 18..so I knew her a year longer...since I was 23 when she past and I got her when I was 5 or 6...or well I dunno Maths but thats really long for a dog...I still miss her

She had a dog that grew up in the family from the age of 5-6 and it seems that her dad died before her dog (when she was 17 years old), outlasting the amount of years she knew her dad (dog died when she was 23). Dad 17 years; Dog 18 years.
My dog is getting really old and I'm sfraid he'll die this year. He's the most important and loved thing to me on this earth, and I don't know how I will function, be strong or survive without him...
