An Oscar nom is a reach due to the competition + success of the film

i honestly think with the category confusion, kind of open field in BSA, that KStew can Marion Cotillard her way to an Oscar nom for this. Critics darling, missed out on Globes, SAG, but still makes the cut with the Academy.

Somewhat closer.

I'd like to see KStew make a darkhorse appearance at the oscars. I haven't seen this movie but she was really good in Camp X-Ray. Twilight just did her wrong.

Let's just be honest for a moment: It did mostly everyone wrong

Well it made Kristen Stewart an A-list movie star who was able to rack up a bunch of money, esp given the subsequent success of Snow White too.
Robert and Taylor, less success, but more than they would have gotten without Twilight.

At least, they earned enough money and now they are acting mostly in indies/serious movies

Well, she did win a Cesar for it (the first American Actress ever) so even if she doesn't make it the Oscars, she's kinda cemented a strong following to her name now.

Does she have a chance @ the oscars? like pull a surprise nom?? funny how she was always trashed for twilight but has been building a bit of acclaim little by little.

Shohreh Aghdashloo - House of Sand and Fog: won multiple critics, Oscar Winner Ben Kingsley was considered a shoo-in so people were definitely watching the film
Laura Linney - The Savages
Maggie Gyllenhaal - Crazy Heart: Jeff Bridges was winning the Oscar so people were watching the film
Jacki Weaver - Silver Linings Playbook: JLaw was winning the Oscar (and the film would get a bunch of other noms) so people were watching the film
Laura Dern - Wild: Oscar Winner Reese Witherspoon was considered a shoo-in so people were definitely watching the film

So the one who wasn't able to ride on the coattails of a lead co-star was Laura Linney, herself lead - though a 2-time previous nominee. That would be the best precedent...

IFC, the distributer, is refusing to send screeners to the Academy.

So a nom is long shot.

Out of the 4 biggest critics groups: NY, LA, Boston and NSFC, Kristen won 3 and was a runner up at LA.
