Andrew Hardwick, who was the inspiration for Taylor Swift's song "Teardrops on My Guitar," has been arrested in a child abuse investigation in Tennessee. The 27-year-old was arrested along with his wife, Joni, and a man named Christopher Hardwick, who has an unclear relation to the couple.
According to The Tennessean, police found a three-year-old girl with severe bruising and lacerations to her head, and her injuries were so bad that she had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital on Saturday. Another girl, 5, was also injured but didn't need medical help.
Joni, Andrew's wife, told police that the victim and the 5-year-old were upstairs with Andrew; the older girl then came downstairs and told her that he hit her in the face. Christopher then went upstairs and yelled for help, seeing blood on Andrew's hand. Police arrived at their residence and found that both Andrew and Christopher had been drinking.
Christopher was charged with assault and disorderly conduct, Joni was charged with assaulting an officer and resisting arrest, and Andrew was charged with aggravated child abuse and a separate charge of child abuse. They are all due in court in either late January or early February, and the investigation is still ongoing.
