Do you remember Incubus? Do you even remember who Brandon Boyd is? If you don’t, you may too young to have enjoyed their mainstream success with albums such as Make Yourself and Morning View. Hell, those of us in our 20s and 30s might not even remember Incubus’ last album, Light Grenades from 2006. They’ve been on tour but it’s been a while.
It may have to do with the fact that front man Brandon Boyd has been busy with a lot of solo projects that aren’t music related. He’s published two books that were mainly focused on art (which is not a surprise when he was known for designing his own tattoos Incubus fans have obsessed over) but he suddenly has a new solo album coming out!
Apparently, he announced the news about the album, The Wild Trapeze, on his Facebook. There wasn’t a major press release sent out to every single publication possible. If anything, he’s somewhat kept it on the down low just like he has since Incubus’ Greatest Hits album. (Yeah, we forgot about that too and that was in 2009!) If Boyd expects us to get news only from his Facebook, then we believe the album will also be released on July 6.
On June 21, a video of the first single “Runaway Train” surfaced and both the video and song is pretty much chill like the artwork he’s been spending so much time on these days. It’s laid back but has enough “drive” with the heavy rhythm guitars and percussion. Check it out below and let us know what you think. To find out more, you head to his official website. Word on the street is that there is a seventh studio album from Incubus coming our way as well.
