So I was watching Netflix all night, and then I stumbled upon this documentary by Disney. I was prepared to be bored because it was of course just about animals. But oh my god, this is like the best animal documentary I've watched in a while! It was amazing, and so well done. I love their monologue for this, which is actually real and based upon the hierarchy of social ladder.

Maya the main protagonist, was the true queen I felt so bad for her story.


She was the lower status monkey, at the bottom of the social ladder. She started out eating leftover scraps because it was her "place and status"; watched her get bullied by the mean girls of the tribe, and been treated like a worthless crap.

And then towards the middle of the documentary she got knocked up by a male, and was left to fend for herself and almost got killed by a giant lizard.



The way she fought for her life, for her child, and for her status is so inspiring, and eventually she ended up being the queen of the tribe, along with the alpha male monkey who eventually then ruled their tribe.

The way she started from the bottom, and now she is the head bitch in charge.

Such an amazing documentary, you guys should watch it!

I haven't seen it but I am def going to watch it. I watched some animal documentaries on TV today and one of them was about primates, and it was so fascinating. I want to learn more about them.

ok I just watched it and it really was amazing. I love how it wasn't just a 'normal' documentary but a real story, and Tina Fey was great as a narrator.

It was both shocking and fascinating to see what a strict social hierarchy they have in place and how difficult life is for those at the bottom of it. When the sisters took Kip that one time, I really thought they were going to keep him forever and I almost cried They were so mean to Maya. Glad the tables turned in the end and the hard work paid off My favourite parts were when they went into town, they were so smart managing to get food from the market and I loved when they played with the dog! But the best scene was in the end, when they showed Maya and Kumar and their second child, so sweet
