No, it's pointless. My parents have them and they're the most inconsequential devices created, they add nothing to the convenience factor of mobile devices. Just use your phone.
They're kinda stupid. Just get a normal watch. if you don't even wear a watch, then don't get a smartwatch. you'll probably get sick of it like I did after two days
I have an Apple Watch and it's definitely TONS better than the Fitbit I had before.
I use it mainly for these reasons
-to ring my phone if I lose it
-to act like a remote when my phone's playing music (works with iTunes, Spotify, Pandora, Youtube, ect)
-control my Apple TV
-use as a timer when I'm cooking
-track my fitness (this does it a TON better than a Fitbit, I promise you)

What FitBit did you have? Cause i wasn't here for tha Apple Watch at all
I had the stainless steel one since April. When the Hermes one was announced, I sold the original and bought that one. I love it! It's probably the most cohesive and thought-out wearable on the market. it has some shortcomings, but it's super convenient.
I went from the fitbit to an apple watch. Thoroughly enjoy it. It is uber convenient.
I heavily rely on the activity tracking and the notifications. I would say try it out for a few weeks or what ever apple's return policy allows though, it isn't for everyone...at least not yet! Also the bands are really a highlight for me.
apple watch is trash i cringe at people who are posers who want to show off a watch that shows text messages.. like its not worth it and not convenenient to charge a watch everyday for freaking texts and useless garbage.. omg..
My family have them and I'm one of the two who do not have one. I just don't see the point. The only benefit I see is if you really wanna monitor your health, particularly while working out. I don't care about getting text notifications, I have my phone for that.
Honestly, the idea of a $400 accessory for my phone makes me a little sick.
You have to have a need for it. It's not a replacement device. It's the handbag to the dress. If you're in a meeting (not high school or college) you can't pull out your phone when you get a text. It's unprofessional and rude. However, it's easy and discreet to check your watch to see if a text is something important.
It is also very convenient while driving. Instead of looking down at your phone or keeping the car quiet so you can hear the next step, you can just glance at your wrist which is already level with your field of vision.
If you have any doubts about whether a smartwatch is something that will benefit you, watch some videos on YouTube to see how people use theirs.
Oh, and the iPad is amazing. It has better battery life than the phones and a bigger screen which makes reading websites and books easier and will save your phone's battery life. I got one as an early Christmas present and I love it. It's just another thing you need to make sure that it will fit into your needs
