I've always loved When A Stranger Calls. It was able to effectively space out the entire opening sequence of the first film, which was essentially the best part.
Probably Black Xmas. Bloody, fun, nasty, disturbing, and full of amazing cinematography, lighting, and great characters. The Hills Have Eyes, House of Wax, and Friday The 13th are probably tied.
