Models will have to provide a doctor´s note to prove they are not too thin, Photshopped pictures will have to be labelled as "touched up" in France according to a new Law

Breaches of the law will be punishable by up to six months imprisonment and a fine of 75,000 euros (£54,533/$82,000).

An earlier draft of the bill had prompted protests from the fashion industry by proposing that a minimum body mass index (a measure of body fat based on height and weight) be imposed for models.

In the end parliamentarians agreed to let doctors make the call on whether a model is too thin, taking into account a range of criteria, including age, gender and body shape.

An earlier version of the bill also made it an offence punishable by up to a year in jail to encourage excessive thinness, a measure aimed at “pro-ana” websites that are seen extolling and promoting anorexia or bulimia.

i stand by this regulation as a way to promote a healthier image and to better the industry as a whole, but i hope none of my faves are impacted by this.

okay, never mind. i actually like this.

this just means that you can have a low bmi and be thin but it just has to be ""natural"" and/or not harmful. i'm pretty sure if any model went to the doctor and did some checkups and tests and the doctor confirmed that they weren't struggling with an ED then the model could still book shows and such.

i'm fine with it because i know that all the models i stan for are either a.) retired or b. )healthy.

Imo they should ban both extremely thin and fat people, for example Tess Munster and her lard rolls are equally as disgusting

The media doesn't glamorize obesity.

There is no crusade on thin people, the media doesn't glamorize obesity and obese people have plenty of crusades against them. This is to counter the alarming and dangerous sides of being a model who starve themselves and are sickly thin because nothing is being done about it. This has got to be the most ignorant post I've seen since I've joined atrl omg.

It's not that big of a deal

All this will do is make sure models aren't literally starving themselves so I don't get why some of y'all are mad. It's combating an industry that forces women to be unhealthy.

But fat people aren't glorified by any industry. People on Tumblr saying to love your fat isn't the real world.
