I am talking classic in terms of sound and lyrics.I think that while JD,PF and BTW are iconic hits they are not classic. They are very of it's time and dated unlike LFN and Roar by Katy or Stay/Diamonds by Rihanna that didn't really age and would sound fresh years to come.
Her songs also lacks big anthem-like choruses.I kinda think that TEOFG and You & I would be more remembeber than her dance songs 10-20 years from now.
What do you think?
I disagree that just because a song is "of its time" that it can't be considered a classic. ...Baby One More Time and Oops!... I Did It Again would sound completely out of place in the current pop landscape but they're bonafide classics.
That being said, only time will tell if Just Dance and Poker Face will be remembered 10-15 years from now.
You praising Katy for being "ahead of her time" invalidates your whole post, what a joke! The answer is no. She doesn't lack classics. Poker Face and Just Dance are classics regardless of you thinking they're "dated", which is irrelevant to the topic at hand. Not to mention she still has other classics such as Bad Romance and the talent show staple You and I!
