I know there are often taboo's in what we can or cannot say. Certain words that our community tries to create within itself and push onto other people. The justice we fight for to be treated equally and just.
However, I was wondering why cheating, as I've seen on here, with many gay people is not taboo, is seen almost as a norm, and is not criticized half as much as saying an inappropriate word.

It is criticized, but there are a majority that do it and don't take it half as seriously as other things.

i would say non-monogamous relationships - not cheating - are normalized in the gay community

Open Relationships exist and there is nothing wrong with them. People think sex = relationship and sex = sex. A relationship is so much more than the sex you are having.

Personally I would never be in an open relationship also, but I know it's different for everyone. That was my point
