Do you make/produce your own music? Or starting to learn?

Garageband is a great program. Grimes made her album masterpieces there (except for Art Angels)
Yes I have music software that I've been messing around with, just started learning how to play guitar, and have written toms of songs. I'm doing all of this to help my friend, who's a really good singer, make it as a singer.
I've had Logic Pro X installed on my computer for the longest time but I never get around to playing with it because it's so confusing
Honestly the only way you learn is by messing around with it yourself. Yeah you can look up tutorials but that's the way you really learn, by learning as you go.
I have. My father's a musician, so I have pretty universal access to production software and necessary instruments. Nothing serious, though - more just messing around.

Jealous! And jealous of people whose friends make music and/or live in a city with a great music scene. They can learn so much from them and ask questions. I don't know anyone
I read that Grimes learnt music because her friends in Montreal/Vancouver were making music, and these cities have great underground music scenes. She said she was messing around and learning from that as well
This thread inspired me to install Mixcraft again! I'm an aspiring singer so i'm tempted to try and make beats.

It's kind of difficult at the beginning when you have a melody in your head but can't turn it into music because of your limitations. I just play around with the instruments for now

What is mixing? I never understood why it is so hard. Like you just make the loops, combine them in order, and fix the volumes of each. Why is it considered the most difficult thing in making music?

That's the easiest part actually. But adding sound effects/mastering is very hard, at least for me.
So i just got reinstalled Mixcraft and having a blast. It's really similar to Garage Band tho not as many amazing effects, there's a ton of loops and beats to play around with and i'm creating music as we speak.

SO mastering is adding the sound effects? For atmosphere? I still need to learn a lot of things
When I made that tune, I added distorted vocals for atmosphere lol and also many effects on the instruments, because when they are plain, they sound cheesy to me. I add lots of reverb, echo, and make other other tweaks
