For the sake of it, let's just say ghosts exist in some shape or form. But what if, contrary to popular belief, they're not actually dead people?

What if they're actually a different species entirely? I think there's a possibility they're a group of living beings that are so much more advanced than us to the point that we can't see them with the use of our five senses. This makes a lot more sense to me than ghosts just being a bunch of dead people.
