I love how M.I.A. bitches about pop music then goes and has Jay-Z on the remix of one of her songs. And no, that's not a diss at Jay-Z, I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy of M.I.A.

Pop music =/= Jay Z
I think I know what you're trying to get at but that was a horrible example.

Jay-Z NOT pop music? Let's see... he's worked with Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Coldplay... all very much in the pop realm. So no, it's not really a horrible example
And anyway I heard HE wanted to work with HER hence the remix for Boyz which in my opinion is a masterpiece. He also challenged Wale to come up with his own for another Boyz remix which is why there is a Wale version floating around too.
M.I.A. is very political, edgy and underground. She hates mainstream artists who are puppets for their labels and do things for commercial purposes. She is cooler than that.
This is why:
-She only collaborates with indie, underground artists like Jay-Z and Christina Aguilera.
-She is repped by the indie, underground label Interscope.
-She only allows her music to be used in tiny little indie flicks for fledgling movie distributors like Sony's "Pineapple Express."
-She only allows her music to be used in commercials for obscure brands like Honda.
