“I remember people telling me if you are not white then in this world you are not right. I was crucified for being brown and it broke me down,” Faisal recollects. “After months of racism I got to breaking point and thought this is worse than hell for sure. I wanted to get out my self esteem was destroyed and I made a decision to cut my wrist and leave this cruel world.”
The post 9/11 paranoia was actually about to take a toll but the words of a Lady Gaga song, playing in the background, pulled him back.
