I have a friend who is a songwriter for warner chappell, and she told me that the rihanna record is a shitshow. She told me that they scrapped the album two-three times over the course of the last year, and that now team rihanna is scrambling for radio-friendly hits, while rihanna just wants to make artistic non generic music, and is sick of the whole pop star thing. So she is fighting with her team. I asked her for details on ANTI but she said that's all she could realistically tell me.
I'm actually legit serious. I really can't prove it because I don't want her to get into trouble with the record label, but she says that she's pitched over 10 songs to rihanna for the record, and rihanna said "she liked two of them".
The world of music publishing is actually crazy. The way my friend pitches a gazillion songs to these various A&R people and publishers. A cool story she told me was that cool for the summer was originally meant for selena gomez but selena didn't want it, so max martin gave it to demi lovato.
This is probably true, or else it wouldn't take a year for the album to come out after the lead single was released. A ****in mess. I honestly think there's still no release date. Ain't none of this **** promised... Or certain. So move on with your lives.
