Okay, so I was watching this video on children that were effectively "raised" by animals; in the video there were 3 instances of children who came to rely on the animals as they were too young to raise themselves.



However, this video got me thinking...these children had to have been able to communicate with these animals on some form of level (it was even stated in this video that one of the children was able to communicate with the monkeys, even though he was only 3 when he'd ran away...he couldn't have developed proficient enough language skills by himself)...what if children were around animals instead of humans during the language development stages on their early childhood..would they be able to "learn their language"? Could they later be taught how to communicate with humans and act as a translator?

So, only children grown up that way are able to learn it. I imagine that learning animal languages does not process in the brain the same way as learning human language would, and if a person began to learn human language they would effectively begin to lose their ability to communicate with animals. I can't imagine a person existing that can communicate with both people and animals, but who knows. Let's wait for them wiki articles

If any animals have an advanced language like we do I think it might be whales and dolphins. Edit: Just researched the neurobiology of dolphins and and whales. Totally blown away! Not only do they use different whistle pitches for names of different whales/dolphins in their pods, but they can also communicate with one another 20x faster than humans can!! They do this by projecting auditory images to one another. No need to spend minutes describing exactly what the mean, with the way they communicate every detail of an object is sent through one sonar wave.
