I've seen this type of story before and I'll never understand why you wouldn't change a young girl's name from Isis to something else. It's not like it would deeply affect their lives as changing a name would if you were a working adult.

It's not the fact that it's a Nutella jar...it's the fact that she's facing discrimination based on her name. Yes, ISIS is a name of a terrorist organization, but that isn't her fault...and it's not the ONLY form of Isis. Also, this will only branch off to other parts of her life. Soon, schools won't accept her, places won't hire her for a job, etc. and it's extremely stupid that people can't tell the difference between ISIS and Isis.

Also, no she shouldn't be forced to change her name to get into a school/job. Try telling a minority with a name common to their culture that.

Because the mother obviously has a deep connection to that name. Women spend 9 months going back and forth between names or even have their child's name already picked out beforehand. Why should someone be forced to change a child's beautiful name all because of a terrorist group they have no relation to. The child will have the decision to change her name when she is 18 if she feels it interferes with her life.
