Belgian PM just held a press conference on Belgian tv. He announced there's a direct terrorist threat for Brussels for one or more locations and they've taken measures. The threat level for the city has been maximized, allowing them to take several measures. People are asked to stay at home unless they really have to be somewhere. They might start searching every single house in one or more neighbourhoods. They have no idea how long this 'state of emergency' will last, but here are some of the measures they are taking:

-Most/all big events in Brussels cancelled
-The tube has been suspended indefinitely
-Hotline for people with questions
-request for people to stay home/not leave their house and avoid all crowds if they do have to leave their house

Update: The city centre of Brussels is being fenced off. Military and police are gathering outside several hotels, they are requesting people to not mention anything about the operation on twitter so their positions and movements won't be revealed, something is going down

How is nothing happening when militants have crossed the border into Belgium, following the attacks on Paris.

Three people have been charged already, so that's evident that the precautions are of serious nature.

Well that's where most of the terrorists that did the Paris attack were hidden so I'm not surprised.

In terms of terrorism there's nothing happening.. They're closing tons of events and subways but there are no bomb threats

You must have missed the terrorist attack that took place less than 32 hours ago. 170 taken hostage, 27 dead.

Whether it's Al Qaeda, Al Mourabitoun, ISIS, Boko Haram or any other radical organisation, it's an ongoing global threat.

If you want to be a guinea pig and prove us all wrong, by all means, walk out into the wilderness and check it's safe...

shootings are bad enough, but they said they have info that do hint at a direct threat, they warned that guy who's on the run might be in Brussels with a bomb vest as well

Be safe, don't think this is nothing. We don't hear about 99% of all terrorist threats.
