About the song, Melissa says: “I wrote this song while watching The Runaways movie, you know, the one with Kirsten Stewart and Dakota Fanning? I was really inspired by how they took over a male-dominated world of rock. Halfway through watching the movie, I paused the TV, grabbed my guitar, plugged it into my amp, and started playing some loud chords. Then the lyrics just came to me. In my head, I could picture thousands of girls with their fists in the air shouting, 'Girl riot!'
Everyone’s story is important and this song is about voicing what you’re fighting for, yelling it if you have to!
