During an address today (Nov 18) , French President Hollande said the country is now at war against terrorism by the Islamic State and that the group is a threat to the entire world.
• Early Wednesday morning, a gun battle took place in the Saint-Denis district of Paris. The siege lasted for over seven hours and two people were killed during the raids, including a suicide bomber who detonated a vest. Seven others were arrested.
• The attackers: Seven assailants involved in the initial attacks are dead. Authorities are hunting for two others. French President François Hollande says the Islamic State plot was hatched in Syria and organized in Belgium.
• The victims: At least 129 people were killed in a wave of terror attacks across Paris, including 89 at a concert hall and others shot dead at restaurants. An additional 352 people were injured, 99 critically.
• The response: France has launched airstrikes against ISIS in Raqqa, Syria. French police have carried out raids across the country, and several arrests have been made in France and Belgium.
