I've never taken linguistics but I love learning about them
Basque is a language is spoken in Northwest Spain and Southwest France which has no known connections to other languages. It's nothing at all like Spanish and other Romance languages and it's speculated that it dates from the Stone Age before Indo-Europeans arrived to Europe

Others say it's related to Caucasian languages, an African language called Dogon, Ainu (a language of a Japanese minority tribe), etc.
Read about it here!

I've also heard about people saying Basques are the descendants of Neanderthals or whatever which I find kind of stupid personally, the language is not that ancient. (Also, Basques look like regular Europeans but anyway)
Thoughts? Where does the elusive Basque language come from?
