So what are some artists that really wasted their chance, or basically screwed up so bad the public stopped caring?

For me, Charli XCX really missed her chance. Not because she didn't try, but because she behaved to much like she "made it" and kind had a "I'm famous" kind of attitude early on which meant people couldn't really relate and dismissed her.

While Marina didn't smash so hard in the US with EH, there were other countries she was doing well in the she practically ignored. She only really cared about the US, and in reality she wasted the potential she had for being international. Also when she did promote in the US, she only peformed acoustics? Was she insane?

Selena really could have been massive this year, but she chose to rely on celeb status rather than actually promoting the music, and as it goes she's still really popular (esp on Social Media) but music wise she didn't re-peak.

Definitely Charli XCX. I remember reading she postponed the release of her album because she didn't want it to drop while Boom Clap was still smashing on POP radio in America because she didn't want people to think the record was like that song

Charli XCX. Still can't believe Break The Rules flopped. I thought it would smash this time last year

you're ridiculous. her fanbase went from like 50,000 facebook fans during the True Romance era to 2.6 million now. you're applying gigantic pop girls standards to her. two years ago she was a critically acclaimed indie artist with an album that completely bombed despite the good word of mouth. she now sang the chorus on a huge, completely ubiquitous #1 hit, had her own solo top 10, did SNL, about a half-dozen award shows, tours worldwide, having other pop girls come to her for hits (Selena, Gwen, etc).

bottom line, she's doing fine. if that's not 'making it', i don't know what is. get your head out of your ass and try being objective.

Leona Lewis- except it's not really her fault.

Charli, Leona, but the biggest goes to Lana for ruining her could-have-been-the-next-The-Fame-era with that SNL performance.

Ashley Tisdale too, but that was less her fault and more Warner Bros. fault

Azealia. We thought 212 was the beginning, but it was the peak of her success. She basically sabogated herself with ridiculous delays, getting into beefs with nearly every female rapper, DJs, the whole Caucasian race and the gays.
