Ok, so I just assumed that someone already posted this . . .
So, over the summer Spike Lee filmed a movie about Chicago violence, and apparently this is the finished product. "CHI-RAQ" is a modern retelling of "A Miami Tail" . . . Uh, I mean, Lysistrata, the Greek comedy by Aristophanes about women attempting to stop the Peloponnesian War by going on a sex strike.
Now, Spike claims that this isn't a comedy, but that trailer's got me feeling some kind of way (Maybe it's because Nick Cannon's playing a gangster rapper. I don't know). But this definitely has the look of a Spike Lee Joint, and just like a Woody Allen picture, everyone and their mother has signed on to be in the movie regardless of whether or not it's any good. I saw Dave Chappelle, Wesley Snipes ( I thought he was still in prison), Sam Jackson, Angela Bassett, John Cusack, Jennifer Hudson etc, etc. in the trailer, and of course the beautiful actress and 4B/C natural hair icon, Teyonah Parris (Mad Men, Dear White People) as Lysistrata.
