Major: ITV Outbids BBC For The Voice / XFactor In Doubt
WOW! Didn't see this coming:

Major movements are taking place in the UK TV arena and they involve of two of the region's biggest music formats - The Voice and The X Factor.
Today the BBC announced that they will cease airing the UK incarnation of The Voice after its upcoming fifth season. The reason? They have been outbid by rival network ITV.
And while the BBC were still keen to air The Voice for another two years (and made a final bid this summer), they say they have limits. Acting Director of Television Mark Linsey said in a statement today:
"We always said we wouldn't get into a bidding war or pay inflated prices to keep the show, and it's testament to how the BBC has built the programme up - and established it into a mainstay of the Saturday night schedule - that another broadcaster has poached it."
Pretty sure the show will smash now. All the restrictions because it aired on BBC will stop and give it the X Factor gloss and shameless promo. I also think this means XF is done.
X Factor is still bigger than The Voice though.
Last season had bigger ratings than TV's last season, and it consistently produces stars.
TV has no credibility in that area.
The Voice and X Factor air at different times of the year. Both will smash, and both will stay airing. X Factor is still the biggest TV show in the UK. Its online and media presence brings in HUGE endorsement deals from companies looking to advertise, and that's where the REAL money comes from.
I hope they can somehow keep both shows running at different times of the year. A huge shake-up to the format of The Voice UK would be nice, with a new look and everything. It's perfect for Friday and Sunday night telly IMO, maybe even weeknights for the auditions? It'll be interesting to see the judging panel for ITV.
