Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, singer-songwriter Bill Withers did an interview with Rolling Stone magazine. He praises Taylor in it and drags Katy!

I was wondering why he was lying about his age but then I realized this interview is from March. Kinda old but all right.
It makes sense that he wouldn't like more contemporary-sounding artists like Katy, given that their music is very modern and boundary-pushing whereas Taylor has really only been putting out your standard-issue acoustic guitar-led singer-songwriter fare, a niche that has essentially remained stagnant for several decades now. It's perfectly logical that that genre of music wouldn't appeal to a person of his age.
I didn't see the article until today. Didn't realise threads could only be made the day of the interview preview. Bill Withers doesn't give loads of interviews these days.

He hardly dragged her. He just said he's not really interested in current pop music, and basically suggested that Katy is the embodiment of current pop music Good for Taylor though
Taylor's marketed herself as more of a songwriter and Katy hasn't. Of course people are going to give her more credit. I also fail to see how her first real pop effort has songwriting that's any more clever than Katy's.
