When should streaming be counted?
I'm making this thread because in the past few weeks, we've seen artists (Fetty Wap, Demi Lovato) manage to top the Billboard 200, but are actually not the week's top album sellers.
Personally, I think streaming should only be counted for singles certifications. It makes sense because when you stream something, you're streaming an individual song. However, you can't literally stream an album, only the songs that comprise it, and I feel like Billboard's random formula of "SEA" and "TEA" is an excuse to make up for dismal sales. Record labels have even been exposed for hiring people to stream material to make it look more popular, I just feel like the whole calculation and representation of streaming is very inaccurate, especially when it comes to albums.
What do you think? Should Billboard keep streaming included in albums? Is this fair to those who actually sell more?
