The very first A Nightmare On Elm St is good, the rest are kinda cheesy IMO.
The remake was well done I guess, it's not scary or anything it feels very PG-13 even though it's R. But it's worth watching if you want a more modern version of the original, it's basically the same movie just a tad different here and there. It's far more tame though.
Similar with Friday The 13th, I found the first film of the series was great, but the rest to be quite rubbish. Although the remake they did was AMAZING and maybe better than the original by a small margin.
