By this statement alone you can tell she wasn't very hands on with the project, I think her wanting to be a popstar was more of a priority for her than the actual music itself

Her label most likely did want to make money off her, like you said which label doesn't. But I think personally the album is good and its downfall was the promotion side of it all.
Her singles weren't sent to radio and her performances were very little. At least her label gave her a decent budget on song-writers and producers.
I think she had input just not as much as she could have or maybe even should have had.
