She, along with the lead singer of Pink Floyd, bought the island for development purposes - not to live there or show off that they own it.

It clearly says they are going to build hotels, condos & retreats for musicians/artists.

She's been in business with Roger Waters for years (she's even done a song with him) and they've been looking into this island development project before 2011...here's a Forbes article from 2006 that mentions them buying/developing the island along with Alejandro Sanz & Miguel Bose.

The OP states that she made it as a destination for the rich and famous though. I just think islands like this could be used for more practical, inclusive purposes than as a resort for the 1-5%.

Can't blame Shakira for doing it but it's just my personal opinion.

But can she chart there?
