It's not specifically vegetarian / vegan stuff that is expensive.
It's the organic, gluten-free, non-GMO, local stuff that is. A lot of that stuff happens to be vegetarian/vegan.
Honestly I am poor af but I've been a vegetarian for 4 years with no problem. Fake meats are usually cheaper than real meats, actually. Almond/soy milk is usually around the same price.
Some fancier vegan meals may be more by a few cents.
I don't think it's the healthy stuff that's expensive. There's pizza, chicken, burgers, onion rings, chips, etc at the grocery store that are really expensive.
But then you have your knock off brands that specialize in mostly microwaveable junk food for under a dollar. Ramen, mac and cheese, pizza rolls, etc.
Being healthy isn't expensive or hard. Same with being a vegetarian / vegan. People will buy 10 dollar oven pizza, 30 dollar steak, and 15 dollar beer and complain about fake meat being 4 dollars. Like. Idgi.
well if you spend $15 on junk food a day you would be spending $105 a week which can be used to buy fruits, vegetables, rice, beans, almond/soy milk instead. The whole "vegan/healthy" food is expensive is just an excuse for people to be fat asses.
