..When it's not even the fattest country in the world, in fact it places at #27, with countries like Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Iceland above it. Although there is definitely an epidemic in America, why does it get the brunt of stereotypes as the fattest country in the world?
Quote:
Tonga, Samoa and Kiribati, small island nations in the Pacific, top the list, with roughly four out of five of their citizens being overweight or obese. They are followed by a slew of Middle Eastern countries – Qatar, Kuwait, Libya, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia. Mexico, Turkey, Chile and Iceland also rank above the U.S. The U.S. comes in 27th with 66.3 percent of its population being obese or overweight.
people like dragging us because we make it easy in a lot of ways, doesn't stop us from being one of the better countries in the world but ya
i traveled to Europe for the first time last summer and it definitely made me want to live there at some point / i absolutely loved the culture but it also made me very proud to be an American ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ American convenience is just >>>>>

I felt the same way during my travels to Europe in July, maybe its because we are so used to the American way but it just felt like things are so much easier in the US
Also, countries such as Samoa, Nauru, Tonga and Kiribati are severely (like 90%+) overweight because they don't have arable land and depend on imported processed foods high in sugar and fat and guess where those foods most likely come from? The United States of America
Until 2013 (when it was surpassed by Mexico), America had a higher obesity rate than any other large country. The USA still has higher obesity rates than almost any other English-speaking country in the world.
The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development estimates that 75% of Americans will be either overweight or obese by 2020. Obesity rates are also significantly higher in the southern states than the northern states and people love to drag the southern states (for obvious reasons). The USA is also responsible for fast food chains like McDonalds and Wendy's, and because those fast food chains have spread to other countries (McDonald's now operates in 120 countries), you could argue that the USA has indirectly caused obesity rates to increase all around the world.
America isn't even that fat. There are so many gym goers/ football players who are ripped but count as overweight because of their abnormal amount of muscle(muscle weighs more than fat). BMI doesn't take that into consideration.
