Kinda weird logic... It wasn't that long ago that she was relevant... Paula Abdul was an ancient relic from the 80's when she started on Idol. And Randy and Simon weren't even famous. And the show is now a phenomenon.

i think she would be great. she's definitely not a nutjob like paula, but i think she will be a nice balance to simon being that she probably wont be quite as brutally honest.

It would be really cool if Hilary were to judge on the show.

To be honest, this is exactly what I was thinking. No one knew Simon or Randy very well when Idol began, and Paula had long since been forgotten by the general public.

I think this would be cool, but I'm not 100% sure, either. It's hard to say whether it would help or hinder her career.

YES! Hilary would steal those Idol watchers away to X Factor. Hire her!

I think that if she does this (if being offered to her after this) she won't do anything new for a long time, I mean, she's not making new music by now and B&C doesn't even have a shooting date yet...she should focus on something else :-/

Let's be honest here, her music career is over and she hasn't done anything done anything acting-wise lately except flop straight-to-DVD movies and guest roles on TV shows. This is the BEST thing that can happen to Hilary right now.

Paula Abdul was famous though, Hillary never expanded beyond the tween market hence she is now a nobody. The X Factor is going to have to rely on star power to attract people to the show, otherwise why would people watch it? Unlike when idol began television is saturated with reality shows. With Idol the shows concept was more original at the time, with the X Factor it isn't really anything new, just an updated version of the Idol format.

The key word is wants.

What ROCK were you living under in 2002-2007 where Hilary Duff wasn't famous? To imply that she never expanded beyond the tween market is just... ridiculous. Everyone knows who Hilary Duff is. Paula's fame was also short-lived, and when her time was up, everyone forgot about her until Idol. Honestly what kind of celebrity are you expecting is going to have enough time in their schedule to dedicate X Factor every year? No one that's too relevant at the moment, because they'd be too busy with other projects. It's not as if having Beyonce, Gaga or Rihanna as a permanent judge on X Factor is a possibility.
