As we all know, the music industry recently moved to a universal Friday release date for a number reasons.
Recently though, it seems like no one really adheres to this new policy—Selena's new single Same Old Love, the new Naughty Boy/Beyonce song, Ellie Goulding's lead single, even the Fetty Wap promo track have been released on Thursdays! What gives? If the music industry made such a big hoopla about this release day why does it seem that so many people make high profile releases on other days?
The industry is following it... every album has been released on Friday since it started.
Ofcourse not every single has, before the Friday date people would still release singles half-way through the week then too. Having a full first week of single sales has never mattered unless you're a big artist with a new lead single.
