I think that many ideas for the 1989 era are original and fresh, but yesterday I came across this picture of Shiri Maimon, a pop girl from Israel, and it's basically a polaroid photo in the style of Taylor Swift... taken in 2013.
Do you think the 1989 era is, music wise and image wise, original?
There's inspirations, but she took an original spin on them and still did her own thing and made the album unique to her. I've also never seen a country artist turn into a legendary pop star.
She definitely is her own artist, you can tell she makes her music and she leaves her unique mark on it. As far as originality, well she certainly has a lot of influences and recognizes that and uses them to express herself, but she's no innovator. So she's original in the sense that you can tell it's her work
All she does is personal to her. That what makes her unique and original. Of course there'll be some coincidences in history. Rebel heart album cover for example.
As if Gaga's imagery wasn't completely original back in 2008-9. Literally thanks to her all the other pop girls started to use wigs and dress up weird. Also, I'd say artists like FKA twigs are original in the sound of their music.
