Hi everyone, I'm planning to launch a weekly Top 20 Countdown on ATRL. I'm looking for people to help. This countdown will score songs based on three factors: plays & spins; votes & polls; and finally mediabase and sales.

They will be based on inputs of ATRL members.
Plays and spins = Players' choice
Votes and polls = Voters' choice
Media and sales = Public's choice

Plays and spins = Players' choice.

Also, there are too many factors. Or you should give a certain percent to every factor. For exmaple, Media and Sales are only 30% of the total. A song got total 200 points of Sales and Radio, but only 30% of the points will be counted for the final point value.

Plays & Spins together is called Player's choice because I will asked 10 very trust ATRL people to post their top 25. They must be specialized Pop, Rock, Country, Dance, R&B/HipHop (2 of each thus 10 members). They will account for 59% of the total points. (Also, they are not always the same 10 people as other people will take turn at different weeks).

16-17% will be by votes and polls. That will be posted on ATRL.

24-25% will be by the public = top15 on itunes; top15 on Youtube&Yahoo (combined); top 15 on Mediabase

I kinda agree with you on too many factors, but isn't that Hot 100 works? Airplay + Sales

Anyway, I hope this can catch on since I really love statistics and I do have my own top25 charts since 2006. So I was very curious to see what songs will be hits here on ATRL amond its members.

I really want some opinions on this. I am very serious about it and want to see if you guys are up for it. It requires a lot of inputs and supports from y'all.

Well, I didn't explain it all.

This Top20 Countdown would be the accumulation of scores for songs by all members who participate in ATRL.

Here is the breakdown on how the chart works.

Plays: Using top 25 songs on 10 people's weekly ipods (and/or) itunes on their computers.
Each of them would have #1 to #25 and each would have appropriate shares of points. #1 would get 25 pts and #25 would get 2 pts. (This is done weekly)

Polls: People vote all week out of 100 possible songs that is in the US Itunes Top 100. (That way, people are not voting for old songs, although old songs might still be in the top100 of US itunes.)
#1 to #20 are all recorded and scored. #1 for the week would get 100 pts. #20 would get 2 pts.

Public: (Media) Top 15 of Itunes, Top 15 of Youtube Vevo, Top 15 of Yahoo Videos, Top 15 of Mediabase chart. Then all components here are intergrated and added to score the top 15.
#1 to #15 are all recorded and scored. #1 for the week would get 75 pts. #15 would get 5pts.


Then all the points are tallied together to give you the Top 20 Countdown!!!

I recommend you to check other requested countdowns and check how they work

And also i think is not neccesary to base on 3 factors cuz that wouldn't change anything at all^if the factor were only 1

Ok here is an example. Let's say we are scoring for two songs: Rude Boy and Telephone

So the play component utilize 10 itunes charts (that people who I trust will email me a pic (print -screen)...then I will analyze and score the songs.
Let say Mary had Telephone as 22 plays and ranked #3 on her list and Rude Boy as 24 plays and ranked 32 on her list. Telephone would have EIGHTEEN points and Rude Boy would have TWENTY points.

#1 = 25; #2 = 20; #3 = 18; #4 = 16; #5 =14; #6 =12; #7 = 10; #8 = 10; #9 = 10; #10 = 10
#11 to #14 = 8 for each; #15 to #18 = 6 for each; #19 to #22 = 4 for each; #23 to #25 = 2 for each.

So by Mary's Top25 Ipod/Itunes chart Telephone = 18; Rude Boy = 20

Now let say another person Joe has Telephone as #1 = 25 and Rude Boy as #12 = 8
Telephone = 18+25+....+...+
Rude Boy = 20+8+....+....+....

So that's 2 out of 10.


Votes & Polls: This is just simple. We put up a thread on ATRL and people will vote from the top 100 US iTunes of last week (the final numbers). One vote per day per person. That person can vote 7 times per week yielding 7 votes. Then top 20 songs receiving most votes get points.
100, 92, 84, 76, 68, ...etc (with decrease of 8 points as the ranking decreases).
Let say Telephone is ranked #6 on top 20 by votes. Then it would gain 60 points. And Rude Boy is ranked #4 in top 20 by votes. Then it would gain 76 points.

Telephone = 18+25+60+...+
Rude Boy = 20+8+76+....+....

The Public account is very confusing and I shall explain it to four volunteers who will do that. One person will be in charge of counting Utube VEVO. One for Itunes. One for Yahoo Vid. One for Mediabase. Top 15 for all charts will be integrated and tallied. Top 15 of intergrated chart will receive points.
75, 70, 65, 60...etc (-5 for each -1 rank (decreasing))

So by the integrated chart: Telephone comes out #2 = 70 points and Rude Boy comes out #3 = 65 points

Telephone = 18+25+60+70+
Rude Boy = 20+8+76+65+

Telephone would be 173 points so far
Rude Boy would be 169 points so far ...so Telephone would be ahead of Rude Boy by 4 pts.

2 pop, 2 rock, 2 country, 2 r&b/hip-hop, 2 dance/techno (must be specialized)
(1 pop and 1 pop variety); (1 rock and 1 rock variety)

2 members to tally all the votes

4 members to work on the Public account. This would be the hardest job.

Awesome!!! Dance/techno happened to be my favorite type of music too.
