At least three people were injured -- one of them fatally -- in a shooting near the campus of Sacramento City College which also prompted a lockdown and search nearby for the shooter, police said Thursday afternoon.
A stretch of Sutterville Road is closed as a heavy police presence remains in the area in the search for the shooter. Officials said the shooter was shirtless and is wearing cargo shorts.
The shooting happened in the 3800 block of Freeport Boulevard.
That is also where police and other law enforcement have set up a search.
Two adult victims have taken to the hospital, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
Reports indicate that the shooting occurred near a school baseball field.
Los Rios police and the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department are also responding to the shooting.
