It ran from 1989-1997.
Craig T Neslon was the coach of a college football team.
Jerry Van Dike was the assistant coach and the brother of Dick Van Dike.
Bill Fagerbakke who is on the coaching staff is the voice of Patrick Starr on Spongebob.
It won some Emmy's and other awards.

Well the plot was somewhat similar to a recently cancelled show that was on NBC (forgot the name)
Too bad, the son was so cute
